Seven Barrels Instant Ramen Upgrade
Turn a basic packet of instant ramen into something richer, bolder, and actually worth getting excited about. Garlic EVOO makes it deeply savory, while Habanero EVOO gives it a clean, lingering heat.
Prep Time: 3 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 1
Ingredients
- 1 package instant ramen, any flavor
- 2 cups water, or amount called for on package
- 1 teaspoon Seven Barrels Garlic EVOO or Habanero EVOO
- 1 large egg
- 1 scallion, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce, optional
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds, optional
- Sriracha or chili crisp, optional
- Fresh cilantro, optional
Directions
-
Cook the ramen.
Bring the water to a boil and prepare the noodles according to the package directions. -
Add the egg.
About 1 minute before the noodles are finished, crack the egg directly into the simmering broth. Leave it whole for a poached-style egg, or stir it into the broth for ribbons of cooked egg. -
Season the broth.
Add the ramen seasoning packet. For a less salty bowl, start with half the packet and adjust to taste. Add soy sauce if desired. -
Finish with Seven Barrels.
Remove the ramen from the heat and drizzle 1 teaspoon Seven Barrels Garlic EVOO or Seven Barrels Habanero EVOO over the finished bowl. Stir lightly so some of the oil flavors the broth while some remains on the surface. -
Top and serve.
Finish with scallions, sesame seeds, cilantro, chili crisp, or whatever you have in the refrigerator.
Choose Your Upgrade
Garlic EVOO: Rich, savory, aromatic ramen. This is the easy crowd-pleaser and works especially well with chicken, beef, or vegetable ramen.
Habanero EVOO: Adds warmth, fruitiness, and a real kick without needing to overwhelm the entire bowl with hot sauce. Great with chicken, shrimp, or spicy ramen.
Make It a Meal
Add leftover rotisserie chicken, frozen shrimp, sliced mushrooms, spinach, shredded carrots, corn, or leftover vegetables during the final few minutes of cooking.
7B Shortcut
The important part is adding the EVOO after the ramen comes off the heat. You're using it as a finishing oil, so the aroma and flavor stay front and center instead of disappearing into the cooking water.
